Our History Apollo-Moon

Est. 1920.

In 1920, Louis H. Moon founded the company when he went into partnership with W. Sanderson. Louis’ father was an account bookbinder with W. Sanderson prior to the foundation of the company and was located in the Tivoli Buildings, Little Collins St. In 1951, R.H.B.(Bob) Moon joined his father and in September 1954 the company became L.H. Moon & Son.

Due to a fire in the Tivoli building they moved to Surrey Hills in 1954. In March 1982 Dunn & Wilson purchased L.H. Moon & Son. They were one of the largest bookbinding companies in the United Kingdom. In 1985 they also purchased Apollo Bookbinders, which were Melbourne’s second biggest library binders, hence today’s name, Apollo-Moon Bookbinders. Dunn & Wilson Australia, owners in the United Kingdom, had a couple of internal buyouts over the next few years. In May 2003 the Australian part of the company, which also incorporates L.J. Cullen in Sydney, was purchased and we are proud to say, it is completely Australian owned and operated.

We are hands on management, dedicated to preserving the trade in unsurpassed quality, standard and service.
